1909-S V.D.B. MS-64 RB (NGC). Designated RB, but mostly "R," meaning red, a misapplication of what probably should be called orange. In any event, the piece has much mint red, changing to light brown and some splashes of blue iridescence. Sharply struck. It is rather curious that Lincoln cents of the earlier years generally are found with better details and nicer overall appearance than are those from 10 years later. As time went on, quality slipped.
