1920-S MS-64 (PCGS). A lustrous specimen with light golden toning over frosty surfaces. Light striking at the center as usual. Some original planchet marks are on the figure of Miss Liberty in the lightly struck areas, not to be confused with contact marks from bag handling. Probably in terms of actual handling this piece could be called MS-65, but there are other factors.
We were taken with a recent commentary by Lyn Knight regarding currency in his sale a month or so ago. He stated that while numbers (on currency, but equally applicable to coins) were useful, the advice of an expert with regard to other considerations, of which there are often many, can be very valuable to advanced buyers. We feel that way concerning coins at ANR and try to take the extra step to go beyond the grading numbers.
