1773 Virginia Halfpenny. Period after GEORGIVS. 7 Harp Strings. Brilliant Uncirculated. 128.5 gns. Glossy, chestnut brown surfaces are quite attractive and boast hints of original mint red color hiding in the most protected areas of the lettering and design motifs. A few, inconsequential surface marks are visible only under magnification and will serve to hallmark this specimen. Obverse die exhibits pronounced buckling below III and severe cracking through George's forehead and down to his nose; reverse exhibits die crumbling up and down the central, thick vertical shield divider.
