Brilliant Uncirculated. 128.5 gns. Glossy, chestnut brown surfaces are quite attractive and boast hints of original mint red color hiding in the most protected areas of the lettering and design motifs. A few, inconsequential surface marks are visible only under magnification and will serve to hallmark this specimen. Obverse die exhibits pronounced buckling below III and severe cracking...  more

1773 Virginia Halfpenny. Newman 8-H (?). No Period after GEORGIVS. 7 Harp Strings. 110.6 gns. Fine....
7 Harp Strings. 110.6 gns. Fine. Surfaces are dark brown and lightly porous, with a deep apple green patina in the fields. Due to the wear and granularity of the fields, it is hard to tell if there are periods after the date and VIRGINIA, as there should be on reverse H. In addition, the large lion seems not to touch the line, unlike reverse H, which should touch the line. This coin...  more

Newman 13-V (attribution unverified). Choice About Uncirculated. 114.2 gns. Deep chestnut brown surfaces are aglow in underlying golden lustre on both sides of this highly appealing coin. Strike is above average on this glossy specimen hallmarked by a couple of very minor obverse spots.

Brilliant Uncirculated. 112.5 gns. Original mint red lustre glows in the centers of the letters and borders the central devices on both sides. There are some minor green deposits on the reverse of this otherwise very attractive mahogany brown specimen. Centers are weakly struck.

1773 Virginia Halfpenny. Period after GEORGIVS. 8 Harp Strings. Newman 26-Y. Very Choice Uncirculated....
Very Choice Uncirculated. 125.6 gns. Fiery rose-red original mint color glows amidst deep chestnut brown toning on this splendidly preserved Virginia copper. Well struck with just a touch of striking weakness at the very centers. Here is a Virginia Halfpenny that would make a very attractive specimen for a type or variety set.
