 1864 Brilliant Proof and approaching a Choice distinction. Reverse Hub Variety II as are all coins of this date. The '64' in the date are closely spaced. Wonderfully deep cameo legends and design elements are easily those of a Choice to Gem Proof specimen. There are, however, too many light hairlines in the fields to justify such a grade. Despite its shortcomings, this coin remains a very enticing example, particularly when viewed at arm's length. One of a mere 470 Proofs struck.
