1871 $1.00. Judd 1146 (Low R-7). Silver, PE. 397.0 grains. This James B. Longacre obverse design depicts Liberty as a seated Indian Princess. Her left hand holds a cap and pole while her right hand supports a globe bearing a ribbon inscribed LIBERTY. The reverse is that of the adopted Christian Gobrecht With Motto Liberty Seated Dollar design. Brilliant Proof with claims to the Choice category. Pale golden-tan toning bathes either side. A moderate number of field hairlines are apparent, and there is a very shallow obverse rim bump at 7:00. The detail, however, remains entirely sharp and there is a full measure of mirror reflectivity still evident in the fields. Extremely rare, the surviving population in all likelihood being less than 10 specimens!
