Deep Cameo contrast of frosty white devices and deeply gleaming mirror fields makes this a breath-taking example of a stately design. Here is William Barber's elegant version of a seated Liberty shown hiding the U.S. shield behind her right knee and a minute ribbon inscribed LIBERTY. The reverse identifies the pattern with the abortive lighter-weight STANDARD Silver coinage that was proposed to get precious metal coins back into post-Civil War circulation. Note the denomination 50 CENTS rather than Half Dollar. PCGS PR65DCAM.
