1793 Chain. Sheldon 3 (R-3). Extremely Fine-45. Here is a glorious example of our nation's first Cent. A wealth of detail remains, all the way down to the fine individual strands of Liberty's hair. Magnification reveals some light granularity, but the surfaces appear smooth and hard to the naked eye. Careful scrutiny reveals clues of some subtle field enhancement in the past. The overall look of the coin is far superior to that usually encountered. There is none of the heavy corrosion that plagues these early coppers and the eye appeal is head and shoulders above the majority of Chain Cents found in today's market. A historically important coin that should be considered by even the most demanding collectors.
