1803 B.6. Large 3. Fine to Very Fine. Well struck, displaying bold devices, smooth fields that have been well protected by unusually high outer rims. Gently cleaned at some time, now showing pale gray at the peripheries. This coin's incuse edge inscription is strangely blundered, including some partial words and some inverted letters, other letters with stars struck over them: * HUNDRED (ornament) ****/ inverted UN, correct E/* NTS*** (ornament) ** ONE **** inverted E OU CN ***/EAR ** OR ** UNIT (ornament). Blundered edges on Capped Bust Half Dollars are well known, and many were listed in Overton, but such an extraordinary edge treatment as this is highly unusual on a Silver Dollar.
