1925'S' VAM 3. A reverse doubled die exhibiting very faint doubling along the right edge of the eagle's wing and thigh. Doubling is also evident at the eagle's front leg feathers, and at the leading edge of the right talon directly beneath these same feathers. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated and quite close to a Gem designation. Ever so smooth silken mint bloom is augmented by a hint of golden toning on either side. This highly significant variety is among the top 50 Peace Dollar varieties as listed by Oxman and Close. Condition census information, furthermore, indicates that there are no listed Gem examples of this variety, and only a handful of near Gems such as the coin offered here. We therefore feel comfortable in asserting that the currently offered coin is among the finest known of this important doubled die.
