1836 Judd 60. Name on Base. Stars on Reverse. Silver, Plain Edge, Die Alignment I. Original. Brilliant Proof. A resplendent example of this ever-popular issue, with light silver devices and dark steel-gray fields. The devices of Liberty and the eagle are well frosted and attractive. The strike is bold throughout, with exacting definition on Liberty's head, and all of the eagle's feathers needle sharp. There are minor handling marks in the fields, but none are particularly distracting, and this is quite the norm for these early, heavy coins. Identifiable by a tiny pit left of the date, and a short scratch to the right of the post of the second 'L' in DOLLAR on the reverse. One of the more available Gobrecht Dollar types, but demand has always exceeded supply.
