Very Choice Brilliant Proof. Razor-sharp design features float in smooth, nicely mirrored fields. There is a shade of tan-golden toning that accents either side. As a date, this proof issue is very elusive, as the majority of its 800 piece Proof mintage went unsold and was subsequently melted. With respect to this Type I Obverse/Reverse die pairing, Breen indicates that such proofs are very rare, as most of the proof quarters of this date bear a Type II obverse and reverse. PGGS PR64.
