 1857 Very Choice Brilliant Proof. A boldly struck example of this elusive date in Brilliant Proof, with full border denticles, a feature almost never seen on circulation strikes of this year. The color is deep blue and gold, on both sides and rather dark, and no surface problems present themselves. This is clearly a near-Gem example of the date on which bold stars and definition in Liberty are the rule. Identifiable by a shallow planchet void above the 'T' of UNITED on the denticles. Seldom seen and always in demand, as this date is tough in any proof grade. NGC PF64.
