1857 N.3 (High R-4). Small Date. Proof-65. Red and Brown. Either side of this lovely coin offers well balanced faded red mint color accented by delicate brown overtones. The surfaces are very clean and show no signs of contact. Identifiable by a short lint mark between the final pair of stars near the dentils, and a minor speck below the 'E' of STATES. No other spots or traces of carbon present themselves. Struck slightly off center as always seen, with a thick knife rim on the upper right obverse. An attractive example of this rare final year of issue Proof.
