 1883 Choice Brilliant Proof. Lightly frosted, sharply detailed and defined reliefs are suspended over mirror-flashing fields of almost startling intensity. A perfectionist can find a couple of trivial tics under magnification but the coin's overall beauty is overwhelming. One of only 40 Proofs struck, and one of exactly six examples appearing in the 10-year auction record compiled by Dannreuther and Garrett. Years may pass before any comparable specimen makes its appearance at public auction.
