1807 Br.4-C, BD-81 (R-5). Brilliant Uncirculated, with claims to Choice. Well frosted on Liberty's head and bust, with the surrounding fields reflective and prooflike. The surfaces are excellent for a coin of this period, with scarcely a mark to be found, even with a strong magnifier. There are faint adjustment marks crossing Liberty's head, the force of the strike obliterated them in the fields, but they do appear on the denticles and less so on Liberty.
Identifiable by a dull rim mark above the 'B' of LIBERTY, and on the reverse by a scuff on the right side of the eagle's breast and another hidden in the right wing feathers. The fields, stars, eagle and lettering are all boldly struck, although a hint of softness is present on the central shield lines. A rim tick is present over the 'E' of AMERICA. Faint wipe lines are present in the obverse fields. The engraver bungled the date, with repunching clear on the '1' and '0'. A simply stunning coin that is certain to enchant any collector lucky enough to purchase this charming Mint State Half Eagle.
