1917'D' Mintmark on Obverse. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated, and bordering on the Gem classification. The central devices show typical striking softness on Liberty's thumb, skirt lines and the eagle's thigh and breast, but most of the definition is present in these areas. Lustrous and attractive, with a blush of golden haze and peripheral flecks of darker gold toning starting to form. A scarcer date and always in demand in all Uncirculated grades. The obverse Mintmark idea was abandoned in mid 1917, and soon the 'D' or 'S' was moved to the lower left of the reverse.
