 1897 Choice Brilliant Proof. Deep cameo contrast manifests the visual allure of a higher grade. There are, however, a few too many light lines to justify a grading any higher than that assigned here. Dazzling fields are wistfully highlighted by the slightest trace of peripheral gold. This is the lowest mintage Barber Half Dollar proof issue (only 731 pieces were minted) prior to 1904.
