 1890 Very Choice Brilliant Proof. Easily a Gem were it not for a shallow hairline scratch inside the last few stars. Toned with light gold around the obverse rim, the reverse with deeper russet and blue peripheral toning. Abundant mint frost on the devices, and highly appealing. Proofs were struck to the tune of 590 pieces that year, while circulation strikes amounted to just 12,000. Scarce in all grades, but obtainable for a price, the present coin is certainly one of the finer examples available.
