1873'CC' No Arrows. WB.101. Small Mintmark. A strong, solid and Choice About Uncirculated. Struck from the same die pair as the previous example, but this one is from an earlier die state with a hint of cracks on the reverse. Attractive and toned on the obverse with medium greenish-gold and hints of russet and dark red intermixed, and attractive. On the reverse the toning is vibrant, with splashes of bright sunset hues speckled over that side. The strike is sharp throughout, and the surfaces clean. Minor evidence of circulation in the right obverse field, the largest ''open'' area in the design, and most prone to handling marks. Clean rims and surfaces otherwise. A rare coin in this grade, and one that has been off the market since 1973. A foremost opportunity to choose between two very high grade examples of the coveted ''No Arrows'' variety.
Ex The Terrell Collection (Bowers and Ruddy, May 1973, lot 558).
