Light silver-gray with a touch of peripheral gold and blue on the obverse. A solid strike for this issue, with bold stars on the obverse and the reverse fully impressed by the dies. There are some hairlines in the fields from handling, which stand out on the reflective fields. The obverse is a very early die state with a strong foot and support below on Liberty, while the reverse is a later die state with several thin die cracks through the legend, motto and denomination. An elusive issue to find this well struck.

Ex Maurice Bauman Collection (Stack's, December 1966, lot 180).
