1871'CC' WB.101. Extremely Fine or finer, but an edge bump was filed off the reverse. A bright, untoned coin which is slightly reflective in the fields. The surfaces were undoubtedly dipped in the distant past and have started to tone back with a hint of pinkish-gold haze. The strike is sharp throughout, and Liberty retains her drapery fold under her arm, as seen on a little over half of those that survive. Examination of the reverse edge finds a small bump located between the words UNITED STATES, and this has been carefully hidden by filing off the extreme edge in this area, with the work being skillfully done and barely noticeable. An important coin for the specialist, and as so often seen, the higher grade examples have a problem or two.
