Blazing lustre in the fields and generally bright and untoned, save for a blush of gold around the edges. The strike is quite sharp, with bold details on Liberty's curls and the stars too, similar crispness is found on the eagle. Examination finds minimal signs of surface hairlines or marks, although the extreme edge has a few trivial scuffs or nicks from long ago careless handling. Early die state, with a very thin crack at the top of UNITED, another crossing the 'D' of that word to the left wing of the eagle, and delicate clashmarks near the shield. An impressive example of this short-lived type.

Ex James Bennett Pryor Collection (Bowers and Merena, January 25, 1996, lot 93).
