1825 O.109 (R-5). Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. An incredible example of this rare die pairing, tied with two others for the coveted Finest Known position for the variety. Furthermore, the surfaces of the present coin are slightly reflective and retain wonderful mint bloom and cartwheel lustre. Satiny in texture on the devices, and toned with dark gold and iridescent blue at the periphery. Trace hairlines are present in the left obverse field, and a nearly vertical scuff is present near the center of Liberty's jaw. The strike is a tad weak on the right hand stars, sharp elsewhere. Given the overall quality and eye appeal, this coin may now be considered of Gem quality by some under the revisionist grading standards prevalent today. PCGS MS64.
