1821 O.103. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. Smooth and very sharply struck on the stars, curls and feathers. The toning, however, is a bit deep with dark gray that mixes with hints of gold, and lustre peeking through from beneath. A faint disturbance is found near the denticles at the 9:00 position on the obverse. Liberty's cheek and neck are attractive, although a strong magnifier will locate a couple of microscopic nicks. An intermediate die state that shows a faint crack through the date. One of the finer examples of this variety behind the Miller late die state example and a close match in quality to the Snyder late die state Gem coin.
