Nicely toned with gold over silver lustre and ringed with deeper russet and blue. The reverse would grade Gem on its own, the obverse nearly so save for a couple of signs of minor contact behind Liberty's mouth. Boldly struck on Liberty's curls, and all the obverse stars are crisp to their very centers. Single clashmarks are seen on the obverse and reverse. Arguably one of the four finest of the variety which grade within a point of the finest reported in Herrman's AMBPR listing. An impressive and beautiful coin in every way.

Ex James Bennett Pryor Collection (Bowers and Merena, January 1996, lot 35); Stack's Sale of September 1983, lot 766.
