A solid Extremely Fine in terms of wear, but cleaned at one time and now a bit washed out. The surfaces show a couple of trivial pin scratches on the reverse behind the eagle's neck, others below the left wing. Steel gray in color, with a dark gray iridescent frame around the rims. This is the key date to the series, and always sought-after in high collector grades. A single pair of dies were used to coin a reported 47,150 pieces. Meanwhile, the War of 1812 officially drew to a close in 1815, and shipping slowly resumed with the resultant flow of goods into American ports as the blockading English ships withdrew.
