1871'S' WB.102. Very Small Mintmark. Brilliant Uncirculated. A frosty white coin that retains strong lustre and clean surfaces. There are some minor handling marks on the surfaces, but the dazzling lustre offsets these. The reverse has a hint of gold starting to form around the legend. An average strike, with softness on Liberty's head and a few stars, and the eagle's thigh lacks the rounded definition sometimes seen on the feathers.
Examination with a magnifier will find strong shield lines clashed into Liberty, located within her gown extending below her arm down onto her leg. This feature is prominent and certainly unusual as clashmarks are normally found in the fields and not on the devices (areas sunken into the die).
