1843'O' WB.101. Normal Date. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated. Sharply struck on all but a couple of the upper right obverse stars and exceptional for this date and mint. The surfaces are a delight to study, with scarcely a nick or mark present. Frosty lustre throughout, and toned with rich golden-russet hues over the entire surface with a touch of gunmetal blue on the lower reverse lettering and rim, and specks of russet on the upper right reverse. While not a particularly scarce issue, in this lofty grade there are certainly no more than a few known, and the present coin is likely tied with perhaps a couple of others as the Finest to survive of this date. An exceptional coin for the specialist who demands Gem quality. PCGS MS65.
