Brilliant Uncirculated, virtually choice. Excellent lustre in the fields and retaining much of the original mint bloom. Bright silver dominates the surfaces with a ring of gold near the rims. Minor handling marks in the fields but none are individually problematic. Sharply struck except for portions of Liberty's chest and the opposing eagle's claws and arrows, which lack full definition. Minor die cracks are present through the stars and legends, and the reverse has the elusive rim cud over 'TAT' of STATES where the edge of the die broke away. A desirable coin for the popular die state and an issue that is very difficult to obtain in any Mint State grade.

Ex The Maurice Bauman Collection (Stack's, December 1966, lot 88 at $80).
