1832 O.101a. Large Letters. Brilliant Uncirculated, with claims to Choice. Frosty lustre in the fields combines with desirable gold and blue toning around the edges. The strike is sharp for this later die state, with the unusual short, thick die crack extending from the wing into the upper pair of olive leaves, and an additional die crack has formed through the lower leaves to 'UN'. The primary die crack appears to be die damage from some sort of mishap. A small triangular shaped die defect is found behind the eagle's neck, matching that seen on the O.104 reverse die. Minor edge lettering error of 'ORALF'.
Ex Reed Hawn Sale (Stack's, August 1973, lot 102).
