1826 O.110. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated, with a Prooflike obverse. An extraordinary coin that is generally snow-white in color, with a few traces of light gold forming over the devices. Boldly struck and reflective on the obverse, although portions of the fields near Liberty show frost instead of reflectivity. Bold eye appeal for a coin from this period. Liberty's curls are sharply defined, and all save a few of the stars are full to their centers. Sharp on the reverse too, with strong definition on the claws, feathers and denticles. Both dies show faint evidence of clashing. Close to if not just within the top half dozen in the Condition Census, for some reason a handful of these were saved in remarkably high condition. Another wonderful collector coin that anyone can appreciate who demands quality.
