1800. JR-2 (R-5). Brilliant Uncirculated. Obverse type: Liberty's draped bust facing right. LIBERTY above, 1800 below. Reverse type: Heraldic eagle derived from the Great Seal of the United States of America. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around. Wide A's. An outstanding example and certainly among the finest known of this very scarce variety. A very lovely example. Both the obverse and reverse are toned in pale silver gray and iridescent gold. There are areas of very pale light gold and deeper blue on the front of the piece. The fields are bright and lustrous, and there is considerable reflectivity visible around the peripheries on both sides. This example is far nicer than either of the two 1800 Dimes that were in Eliasberg's, collection.
