1652 Massachusetts Bay Colony. Pine Tree Shilling. Small Planchet. N.26, Cr.15-O. R-5. 71.3 gns. About Uncirculated. A remarkable error Noe 26 like the Norman Stack coin shown at the 1991 ANS exhibition. The obverse is toned in light silver gray with iridescent gold and pale blue while the reverse is a more even medium silver gray in color. Sharply double struck somewhat off center to the extreme right, the coin having rotated nearly 180 degrees from the first to the second strikes. Tree nearly full save for some softness in the upper branches, legend around fully legible if a little soft at the top and bottom. On the reverse the off centering is a little more pronounced although the peripheral legend is complete and the denomination and date are bold. There is a broad border of extra metal showing on the reverse at the top.
