1827 Br.1. Brilliant Uncirculated and an entirely respectable example of this very rare early Quarter Eagle issue. Deep yellow-golden fields and design elements are bathed in a full measure of icy mint frost. There are some trivial roller striations at the central obverse that do not at all impede the overall presentation of this noteworthy coin. The strike, though not entirely full at the centers, is certainly sufficient, as is the surface quality for a coin within this condition range. Very rare, this being the last year of issue for this short-lived Capped Head Left, Large Diameter type. About 35 examples of this dates are estimated to survive in the to be published Bass-Dannreuther reference. NGC MS61.
