1723 Wood's Hibernia Halfpenny. No Pellet Before H. I/A in HIBERNIA. 118.8 gns. Uncirculated, nearly Choice. Lustrous, ever so slightly prooflike surfaces define this lovely, chocolate brown specimen. The 'I' in HIBERNIA is clearly punched over a partially effaced 'A', and in fact the 'B', 'R', and 'N' of that word also show signs of repunching or overpunching. Perhaps the engraver noticed that he had left a letter from the word HIBERNIA and made the relevant correction, a not uncommon occurrence on various colonial coin issues.
