1652 Massachusetts Bay Colony. Pine Tree Threepence. Noe 34. 16.3 gns. Fine. Silver-gray with tinges of light gold, this specimen exhibits microscopically granular surfaces. There are some areas of uneven wear on both sides, which is most likely the result of a slight wave or bend in the planchet that is common to these early New England issues. The Noe 34 variety is easily recognized by the pair of pellets flanking the Pine Tree's trunk. Pine Tree, date and denomination are all bold on this survivor of the Threepence denomination.
