1794 Overton 105 (R-5). Choice Very Fine. Here is a picture perfect example of this first year of Half Dollar issue featuring smooth and lightly iridescent golden-gray fields encircling lettering and design motifs that are worn to a lighter silver-gray hue. A few inconsequential rim tics are this wholly original coin's only distraction. With more and more collectors pursuing these early coins, considerable pressure is placed on gorgeous, first year of type coins like this. In addition to its physical beauty, this coin represents a rare die pairing, Overton 105. A glance at the Herrman auction listing reveals that this coin probably lies within the top ten or so known of this die variety.
