Perfectly centered and well struck, this specimen exhibits rich chocolate brown surfaces that are essentially problem-free. A minor, thin lamination traverses reverse, and magnification discovers subtle graininess in the fields of this wonderful type coin. Here is a well pedigreed, very attractive specimen of the 1788 Massachusetts Cent.

Ex Wayte Raymond's first public auction sale (December 8, 1910, lot 8); Hillyer Ryder, F.C.C. Boyd; John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part V (Stack's, October 12, 2004, lot 136).
