1785 Nova Constellatio Copper. Pointed Rays. Large US. CONSTELLATIO. Crosby 3-B. 117.8 gns. About Uncirculated from a technical standpoint and probably nearly Mint State in actual terms of wear. Surfaces are hard and glossy and range from chestnut to dark brown in various places, the darker coloration resulting from some light verdigris in those areas. Strike is very bold and the die state is a bit later than usually seen, this coin displaying a fine die crack from the 'N' of NOVA into the field to the left.
Ex Suburban Washington, D.C. Coin Convention (Pine Tree Auction Company, February 21, 22, 1975, lot 27).
