MCMVII (1907) Roman Numeral. High Relief, Wire Rim. Brilliant Uncirculated and very close to the Choice category. A delicate wire rim is seen circling both sides of this meticulously struck example of the August Saint Gaudens' design. The surfaces are wonderfully bright, offering sparkling canary-yellow gold lustre of the greatest beauty. Careful study under magnification reveals some extremely faint disturbance in the left obverse field and a very minor mark or two on either side. The delicacy of the exceedingly thin extruded 'fin' of gold that forms the wire rims exposed it to minute tics that can be found with a glass. It cannot be emphasized sufficiently that these are exceedingly trivial demerits, scarcely visible to the naked eye and in no way offering serious distraction to a connoisseur.
