Choice Very Fine. Fields are a deep leaden gray with some roughness, while the lightly worn devices and legends are a lighter silver-gray hue for a pleasing two-tone effect. Obverse die was too large for the planchet, cutting off the tops of 'SATHVS', while the reverse is well centered, with the entire legend on the flan. As a final note, this historic remnant of the Massachusetts Bay Colony has a slight wave to the planchet.

Ex Byron Johnson Collection Mail Bid Sale (Robert L. Hughes, January 1979, lot 92).
