1652 Massachusetts Bay Colony. Pine Tree Shilling. Small Planchet. Noe 29. 70.7 grains. Very Fine. Obverse is a combination of light gray with areas of darker gray toning, while the reverse is a deep graphite gray with silver gray highlighting the legends and beading. This charming little product of the Boston mint was struck slightly off center on a constricted flan, causing about 40% of the obverse legends, and about 30% of the reverse legends to be absent.
Ex Rindge Collection (Joel L. Malter, March or June 1985, lot 977).
