1652 Massachusetts Bay Colony. Pine Tree Shilling. Small Planchet. Noe 29. 70.7 grains. Very Fine....1652 Massachusetts Bay Colony. Pine Tree Shilling. Small Planchet. Noe 29. 70.7 grains. Very Fine. Obverse is a combination of light gray with areas of darker gray toning, while the reverse is a deep graphite gray with silver gray highlighting the legends and beading. This charming little product of the Boston mint was struck slightly off center on a constricted flan, causing about 40% of the obverse legends, and about 30% of the reverse legends to be absent.

Ex Rindge Collection (Joel L. Malter, March or June 1985, lot 977).
