This attractive Liberty head was created by William J. Taylor, Birmingham, England, and joined to a reverse presenting the denomination in wreath. Deep brown surfaces give bold distinction to this example of one of the most attractive proposals for Pioneer Gold coinage.

Taylor's role in this handsome pattern coinage of $2.50 to $20 was first publicized by David T. Alexander in the 1983 American Numismatic Association Convention catalogue.
