1814 George III Indian Peace Medal. Silver, 75.5mm. 1,873.5 grains. Type of Jam.24. Extremely Fine. Deeply toned in rich silver gray on both sides. Surfaces somewhat bright and reflective. Some light marks, old obverse scratches. Holed at the top for suspension as usual, without loop. Obverse: Thomas Wyon, Jr.'s imposing portrait of the old king facing right in the robes of the Garter King. Reverse: royal Arms and supporters, 1814 date below. These medals were distributed to Canadian native leaders who were of great assistance to the British cause during the War of 1812. In some cases they replaced American medals surrendered by leaders who altered their geopolitical orientations.
