Stark silver contrasts with a whisper of the most delicate pink-gold, highlighting the sharply defined outer rims. One of possibly 80 Proofs struck for this historic Proof-only date. The Chapman Brothers received this mintage figure from one of their insider U.S. Mint contacts, possibly as early as 1876, though no official figure was ever revealed. For rarity and visual appeal this coin is undoubtedly among the finest surviving examples.
