$1.00. Fr.1915-A. 1988A. New York. This splendid error note displays a RETAINED OBSTRUCTION PRINTING at the upper left face. To the left of the obstruction is a SMALL BUTTERFLY FOLD that has resulted in a segment of the front corner having been printed on the back. The note is a solid Extremely Fine with three rather deep vertical quarterfolds. The accompanying printed fragment is Crisp Uncirculated. It goes without saying that a banknote of this nature is, without question, of the utmost rarity! RCGS EF40.
It should be noted that although obstruction printing errors in and of themselves are not prohibitively rare, examples of such errors accompanied by the pertinent fragment are of an entirely different level of rarity. When one considers the rarity, therefore, of a double error of this nature, it is indeed quite possible that the error specialist may not encounter such an opportunity again in his/her lifetime!
