1793 Wreath. S.6 (R-3). Sprung Die. About Uncirculated-50 to Choice About Uncirculated-55. This handsome coin boasts a very precisely incused Vine and Bars edge. Die State II without the extra dot above 'I', boldly struck in the wreath, lettering and date. The highest points of Liberty's hair are somewhat blunt. Here is a splendidly centered coin, boasting remarkably full dotted borders, the obverse dots impinge on the rim from 2:00 to 3:30. The inset reverse dots display jewel-like sharpness all around the periphery. Smooth surfaces display pleasing golden brown on both sides, some original mint lustre and gloss remaining in the protected areas. This exquisite coin would place about fourth from the top in the CQR Condition Census; in the upper half of the Breen-Borckardt Condition Census; and at the middle of the Noyes listing. This beautiful specimen is not specifically listed at this grade level in the recent Del Bland Condition Census for Sheldon 6.
Ex Hain Family Collection (Stack's Americana Sale, January 2002, lot 728); previously from Stack's, privately, January 1986.
