1787 George III counterfeit halfpenny - Connecticut muling. Vlack 13-87CT. Breen 998. Reverse as 1787 CT G.2. R-7+. Near Very Fine. 128.1 gns. Light olive brown on both sides. Obverse center quite rough and granular, flawed on right. Small planchet cutter clip at the top of the obverse, rim opposite beveled heavily. This is perhaps the second finest of four known of this extremely rare variety and will be hotly contested by collectors of Connecticuts and counterfeit halfpence alike. The other known specimens include 1) Eastern Collection VF-EF; 2) The Ted Craige Collection coin. Fine with obverse flaws; 3) Colonial Newsletter Foundation. Ex Barnsley. Poor.
Ex Henry Chapman in July, 1925.
