1723 Rosa Americana Twopence. Stop after REX. No stop after 1723. Br.92. Choice Uncirculated. Bath metal. 240.7 gns. Usual thick flan. A lovely coin and a classic Rosa Americana twopence. Both sides are a deep olive green and brown. There are traces of faded brassy yellow gold color in the protected areas around the rims. The fields are uniformly granular but the piece is not plagued by the light pits usually seen on Rosas. The strike is sharp, too, and the weight of the coin is pleasingly heavy.
Said ex Philip Nelson Collection on December 11, 1913; F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
